The Personnel Preparation & Development Workgroup promotes coordination and communication across the states in the northeast region to optimize resources in personnel preparation, recruitment, retention, and professional development.

The workgroup comprises state department personnel responsible for various aspects of special education personnel preparation and development. Representatives include State Improvement Grant (SIG) Coordinators, members of the state's Center for Improving Teacher Quality (CTQ) teams, and those involved in the National Personnel Center's efforts to improve teacher preparation, recruitment, and retention. State department representatives participate in teleconferences and meetings depending on the subject area of concern. The group provides input to NERRC and national teacher quality technical assistance providers on issues related to teacher quality and special education teacher preparation, recruitment, and retention in the states.
