State Leaders Summit on Deaf Education: Making a Commitment to Systems Change in Deaf Education

May 7-9, 2007

Registration: We are sorry to report that we have reached maximum participant capacity and registration is now closed. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Conference Purpose: To ensure the National Agenda and the needs and issues for students who are deaf or hard of hearing are integral parts of state accountability.

Who Should Attend?  Each State should send one leadership team comprised of a combination of the following:

  • State Department of Education representative
  • Parent leader
  • State school for the deaf representative
  • Higher education representative
  • Any other key stakeholders identified by the State

Special Announcement: You are invited to attend the CEASD closing luncheon on May 7 which is being held at the Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, MD.   Dr. Alexa Posny, Director of the US Office of Special Education Programs, has been invited as the closing keynote presenter.  If you will arrive in time and wish to attend, please check the appropriate box on the registration form.  For more information about the CEASD conference please go to http://www.ceasd.org/conferences/.

Expected Outcomes:

  1. State leadership teams will share information and engage in dialogue regarding current strategies and programs they are using to implement specific goals of the National Agenda
  2. State leadership teams will learn strategies about systems change as they are applied to accountability in deaf education.
  3. State leadership teams will develop action plans to apply the information gained in their respective states.

Registration:  Please register as a State Team.  Please remember registration is limited.  For teams that register prior to April 7, the registration cost is $150 per person.  For teams that register after April 7, the registration fee is $165 per person.  The registration form will be available beginning February 2. Confirmation:  All team members registered should receive an email confirmation upon registration.  A second e-mail confirmation will be sent in March to every registered participant.

Payment: There is a registration fee which is to be paid either by check or purchase order (sorry, no credit cards) to the Mountain Plains Regional Resource Center. If you registered before April 7, your registration fee is $150. If you registered after April 7, your registration fee is $165. Please mail payment to the following:

Cancellation:  All cancellations made prior to May 1 will receive a full refund.  No refunds will be provided for cancellations made after May 1.

Hotel Accommodations: A block of rooms will be held until April 22, 2007 at the Sheraton Columbia Hotel, at the rate of $159/night.  Please register your hotel room on-line at:
