COMPREHENSIVE CENTER
The CCs provide assistance to low-performing schools and districts to help close achievement gaps and meet goals of NCLB. The Centers provide technical assistance to states to benefit school districts and schools, especially those in need of improvement. Includes 15 regional centers and 5 content centers.
Appalachia Comprehensive Center
REGIONAL EDUCATIONAL LABORATORY
The REL Program consists of a network of ten laboratories that serve the educational needs of a designated region by providing access to high quality scientifically valid education research through applied research and development projects, studies, and other related technical assistance activities.

EQUITY ASSISTANCE CENTER
The EACs provide assistance in the areas of race, gender, and national origin equity to public school districts to promote equal educational opportunities. The Mission of the EACs is to assist schools and school districts in meeting performance standards while ensuring equal opportunity for all students.

STATE IMPROVEMENT GRANT (SIG)
The TN State Improvement Grant supports children with special needs (ages 2-22) and their families in the development of language, communication, pre-literacy, and literacy skills to ensure academic achievement and successful transitions. The Tennessee State Improvement Grant is administered through the Tennessee Department of Education, Division of Special Education, and works with collaborating schools across the state. SIG is a five-year initiative (2003-2008) and will expand services and numbers of collaborating schools each year.
