COMPREHENSIVE CENTER The CCs provide assistance to low-performing schools and districts to help close achievement gaps and meet goals of NCLB. The Centers provide technical assistance to states to benefit school districts and schools, especially those in need of improvement. Includes 15 regional centers and 5 content centers.
REGIONAL EDUCATIONAL LABORATORY The REL Program consists of a network of ten laboratories that serve the educational needs of a designated region by providing access to high quality scientifically valid education research through applied research and development projects, studies, and other related technical assistance activities.
EQUITY ASSISTANCE CENTER The EACs provide assistance in the areas of race, gender, and national origin equity to public school districts to promote equal educational opportunities. The Mission of the EACs is to assist schools and school districts in meeting performance standards while ensuring equal opportunity for all students.

This is a collaborative, technology-supported approach to professional development will buttress Maryland's efforts to actualize its State Performance Plan and meet federal accountability mandates under No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 2004. Specifically, the project will empower the State to embrace and surmount current challenges to addressing learning needs of children and youth with disabilities ages 0-21 across Maryland by: (a) recruiting, training, and retaining certified and highly qualified special educators; (b) ensuring access to the general education curriculum and attainment of annual measurable objective targets by students with disabilities; (c) serving preschool children with disabilities in age-appropriate settings; and (d) improving parent outreach and involvement.
